Supporting Our VeteransAs a former member of the United States Army’s elite 82nd Airborne Division – veteran issues are always on my heart and mind. Along with being a veteran myself, I was never more proud to watch my son graduate in April from Air Force basic training in San Antonio. My son now serves in the New Mexico Air National Guard. I am also proud to have served as an Honorary Commander of his Unit. Not a day passes when I don’t think about my son, his dedication to the American flag and our cause, and the men and women serving this great country in far away lands – fighting for us. Our military men and women and our cherished veterans have a very special role in New Mexican society and culture, and as a disabled veteran, I know first-hand the pressing issues facing our veterans, and the difficulties at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) – from long lines and poor service to inadequate facilities and delayed claims. These are serious issues and they must be resolved! As your representative in Congress, I promise to support:
As a country and as a people we have a moral obligation to support and defend our troops and veterans. Our veterans earned it – deserve it – and I will work to ensure they get it. |
